School Pictures

I made this page for this week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesdays Challenge. The challenge was to cut out and pop up our images. I used Fantasy Floral Garden and cut out and popped up the flowers, in addition to embossing a border along the left side of the page.

Here's another reminder not to hoard!! Did you know that Thickers lose their stickiness? I think these Thickers are three years old, and I had to glue them down with Diamond Glaze. I wonder what this means for everyone who actually used theirs three years ago. Have they come unstuck from everyone's layouts?

Have you tried American Crafts Zing embossing powder? I have two colors, and I love them both!! I used blue and blush. One of the cool things about it is that the label on the top of the jar is the exact shade you'll get when you emboss. I embossed the chipboard flourish for a little extra richness. The blue is metallic, but the blush is not. You can get Zing embossing powders at Creative Play Stamps.

Also, did you notice my beautiful new Prima Gallery Roses? If you love Primas as much as I do, check out CPS, they have a HUGE collection of Primas!!

Little Princess

I was this week's challenge hostess over on SCS's Crafty Secrets forum. We have a nice group of super talented gals who love to play together every week with their CS stuff. We'd love it if you came over and joined us!!

My challenge was to use leftovers. The only new thing on this card is the card base, the rest is all scraps. I used the CS Classic pad-it's so pretty! My pictures are terrible today for some reason. This picture is a little washed out and the glitter doesn't show well. Oh well, that's how it goes.

Hebrews 11:1

This is another one from Verve's July release and also a Mojo Monday sketch. The base here is SU! Naturals White, the solids are Bazzill, and everything else is My Mind's Eye Bohemia.

This scripture is such a good reminder for me because the house we are renting is for sale, and it could go at any time. This requires me to have faith that the Lord will take care of us, just as He always has. I know that things will work out for us, even though I have no proof of that from the world's viewpoint. Every day I am reminding myself to be satisfied with the blessings I have instead of always looking for the next thing. This precarious situation may actually be good for me in the long run...

Those, "Hey, Mom, give me a marker!" stamps...

I got this idea from Vicki Chrisman, I think! I really should check these things out before I go slinging around the attribution, but it's not life and death right? Just stamping! I thought it was very clever to toss all the supplies used for a card into a pile and take a pic instead of writing it all down. It would have been especially clever if I could actually get it loaded next to the right card!

This one's for this week's My Favorite Things sketch challenge, hosted by StampOwlFrances, as I call her. Tough sketch, and not my favorite card ever, but I do like the stamps and the colors.

The other day I was looking for a stamp to go with my new Verve feel better soon stamp, and decided on this sweet Magnolia. I was working on the layout when my five year old son wandered in. This Magnolia was peeking out from under piles of paper and he fished it out. "Hey, Mom, give me one of your markers," he said. Well, I'm no rocket scientist, but I am 45 years old and the mother of three boys, so I knew EXACTLY what he was planning. "What for?," said I. "So I can make a face here. A smiling face. And a NOSE!" Of course oldest ds (18yo) and I thought it was hysterical and LOLed quite a lot. When we told DH and middle DS they LOLed quite a bit, too.

I'm going to stamp a bunch of Magnolias and have littlest boy draw faces on them and make some cards. I also thought it might be fun to have him draw heads on some of my WTG? stamps!

I hope you are having a HAPPY FOURTH!!

Butterfly Parade

This is for Verve's Mojo Monday challenge, and the sentiment is from Verve. I ordered this month's release bundle and they threw this in as a thank you-isn't it a great little thank you stamp? I really like the fonts and the size. It's just right!! Also, I won a free set this month!! I'm pretty thrilled, I'll make sure I point it out when I use the one I chose!!

The stamp and the paper here are Basic Gray, the brads are SU! The Doodlebug gems in Beetle Black are from Creative Cuts and More. You can also get the matching glitter and flock there.

I made this butterfly card first, for this week's color challenge over on StampTV. It was hosted by Carla Suto, one of GinaK's guest designers. The colors were taken from the FREE digi paper downloads GKD is offering this month. I wasn't sure I had enough ink to print them out, so I went straight for My Mind's Eye Tres Jolie, which has very similar colors.

The stamps are GKD Eclectic Summer and Eclectic Summer Sayings, both of which I think are are very versatile and a great bang for your buck. Right now you can only get them with the current STV kit. I have both kits, and could not be happier with them! Isn't this butterfly beautiful? I actually like it better than my Basic Gray butterfly above. I finished this off with a few shots of Chestnut Glimmer Mist, and a touch of Copper Stickles.

Mayfields Out West

This is for Erika's weekly scrapbook challenge over at StampTV. I used GinaK's set Out West for the journaling block. I think that set was designed by Theresa Momber for GKD.

My base is Bazzill, as is the blue. The solid green is Always Artichoke, and the patterned paper is Blue Awning by K & Co. The rub ons are all MAMBI and the tag, K&Co. I added a little sponging with Chestnut Roan, and some Black Stickles.

Crafty Secrets & Flourishes Challenge Cards

Sometimes cards have a mind of their own, and this is one of those cards. I almost didn't post it, however, Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge this week was to use chalks. For this Open to Love image, I used Chalk Enhancer I got at GKD. CE is a liquid, and it sort of turns your chalks into paints. It does have a learning curve, and I have been trying it on various surfaces. So far it works the best on this chipboard. I just love the way the color looks, and think it might also work on kraft.

If you like the looks of the Bazzill Bling Black Tie heart or the Gold Stardream heart, you can check the cardstock at Creative Cuts and More.

This week's Crafty Secrets challenge was to use some unloved stamps. This sweet border stamp is from Baby Boy. I also colored this with the Chalk Enhancer. The papers are from the CS Classic pad and Melissa Frances. I get all my Crafty Secrets goodies at Creative Play Stamps.
