The Haircut

Well, Sky decided to get a haircut. I made sure to be there with the camera, because when Ross had hair even longer than Sky's and decided to cut it I wasn't there. I'm still a little bitter about that, truth be told.;) I love my boys with long hair, but it's hard for them. Where we have lived, in a conservative ranch community in Colorado and in the Oklahoma Panhandle now, people don't appreciate those who don't look and act like they do. The hair has been a good lesson for the boys. They know that people do judge you based on your appearance. They know that there are consequences for the things we do, the choices we make. I'm glad they had the experience, I think they're better for it.

Hehe that is so neat, what great pictures! My son went to jesuit highschool in NewYork and always had a "decent" haircut. Then we moved here to Colorado and he went to a mixed (boys and girls!) highschool and the hair grew to incredible lengths, he's had a perm, dreadlocks, braids, cute long hair and everything in between. Being bleach blonde to begin with, this was a sight to behold! But I loved every phase of it. Now he has a job-job and has to look decent. But he prides himself going to the only black barber in town (he grew up with only black friends back east, so that is the "normal folks" to him. Being Colorado, you can imagine the sight of a bleach blonde guy in the black barber shop, its too cool! Hair is so short now I can barely tell its there!

Listen, I realize that's your young'un, but with a handsome face like his, he does NOT need to be covering it even though his hair (long) looked pretty healthy and lustrous.

My OH is coming up 42 now (don't tell him I told you that!) and still has long hair. Yes, we do get treated differently when we're out, to the point of being followed around shops!!
